Luger Ejectors Questtion

Does anyone know how to accomlish the plum-red color "finish" on the ejectors. I read somewhere on this forum that is is salt bluing at incorrect temperatures....is this true?
any info would be greatly appreciated.

I just realized that I would need a 1980 DeLorean with a flux capacitor and travel back in time to achieve this finish. Basically a lost art. Guess I'll have to hold out till and original parts surfaces somewhere.

it is the spring steel that will not take a dark blue color, same as the claw extractor and the ejector springs on K98....its the steel and not the blueing methods....it will always be a plum color....hope this helps....and welcome

oh, do you mean the ejector will simply take the plum color from usage?

No, sorry not a real clear answer....it takes the plum color not from being used, but from the moment it is dipped in hot salt bluing solution, being a spring steel, it is different from the steel the rest of the gun is made out of, and thus blues a different color, the plum color....now in some spring steels and with some bluing solations and at higher bluing temps, darker plum can/will occure....but for all protection from rust/elements and so, the plum color will work....OK?...the same will happen if you try to blue a color case hardened piece of steel....let me know if this helps
