I envy you. Been a long damn time since I had real Broetchen. My wife gets a case of Frankenwein for her birthday every year from a former student of mine but he can't bake.

Get me your address in a couple of weeks and I'll send a dozen or so to you, my wife has owned/operated a German bakery and restaurant for ten years. Only thing better than going to Germany is having it paid for by the business and writing it off. Wife goes yearly to get recipies, utensils, set up supply distribution, ect.

Take him up on it George! RK was kind enough to send me a loaf of German bread from his Wife's bakery a few years ago...In the hospital the other day Ellie had a German Nurse, I asked her what she missed most about Germany and she said the bread!
Someday I will get back there while still young enough to enjoy it...Jerry Burney

You're not one of the guys from "Beerfest", are you? Great luger scene in that movie BTW (lest I be accused of posting "off-topic" material )! Have fun.... I can't wait to go back. Jack

I am doing fine. Town is Burggrumbach south of Wurzburg. Have been on a bicycle touring villages and visiting gasthouses all day. Weather is beautiful. Will be going to a large flea market at town named Volkach on Saturday. Beer is great. (German keyboards are different.)

Hope Ellie is ok, having a great time here. Cruising through Wurzburg yesterday morning and found the progeny of Simson Suhl parked on a side street. It was a Simson motorcycle. DDR manufacture, clearly marked. Took a few photos, will post when I get back next week.Picked up a very nice Luftwaffe belt and buckle at the flea market, wasn't cheap (40.00) but condition is great. Dealer had a Luftwaffe sword and lots of other great stuff.

sounds nice RK.
Ellie was walking along and broke her leg in a freak fall evidently, she is "slowed down", but at home doing fine from what I understand. I plan on visiting next week or the week after... Ed |
