Default Erfert/doubledate/unit marked, etc.

I've had this for a while and wanted to learn a bit more about it. It's been around - the WWI build date to the police L mag shows it's lineage. I'm curious as to the translation of the police (?) unit marking.

Thanks, Bob

.......Just noticed on the other board that this gun is in Don Maus' database with other P.A.L. marked guns (Polizeiamt Leipzig?) - Saxon police.

Sothriv

Nice police marking on your Luger

I have a 98/05 reworked bayonet that is marked: P.A.L.II.313 with matching scabbard.

The regular Saxon police unit mark usually reads; S.P.L.xxx. I have a cut down Saxon police sword made into a bayonet and that is the unit marking on the crossguard.

Dan Maus has done a lot more research on police unit marking then anyone I know and if says the P.A.L. police mark is Saxon, then it must be. Thay may have changed the initial marking from P.A.L. to S.P.L.
