Default 1912 Erfurt with unit marks and more

Hello all
Here are a few picutres of an somewhat unusual 1912 Erfurt. It apparently was initially issued to the Bavarian 16th Infanterie regiment, Company 11, weapon 4. The unit was know as the 16 Bayerisches Infantrie Regiment GroSherzog Ferdinand von Toskana. The unit fought in the Some in 1914 and 1916 and in Flandern, Lothringen, nancy, Siosons, Oise, Marne and Aisne.

After WWI it appears the Luger was given to a Barvarian paramilitary group, the Einwohnerwehr Bayern. This group branded their initials in the right grip.

Finally the Luger came into U.S. after WWII as a war prize and was found in a 1941 holster.

Great pistol with alot of history. Too bad it's not the Bavarian 16th reserve infantry regiment.

Very nice, was the holster Barvarian?? I have a nice Brown Barvarian holster from before WWII. I am pretty sure it is for this gun you have and can show picutres if wanted?? Willing to trade for a German holster of sell.

Nice score. Rick B

I made a mistake being in a hurry as it is a Bulgarian holster. It was a brain fart that lasted long enough until I checked back to realize it. PM sent.. Rick B

Nice grip strap unit marking. I also have a Luger made by DWM dated 1916 that was issued to the B.16.R. No company or weapon numbers.

I wish that mine had those letters branded into it's grips, as that info adds some very interesting post War history to your gun.

Thanks for sharing.
Joe
