Looking To Sell Luger
Hello,
My father passed this Luger down to me many years ago and I'd like to sell it. I have no idea how much it is worth. It has a brown holster and one magazine. It has some unique markings on the side that I'm not sure what they mean. Please help me with the process of determining the market value. Thank you. Fred |

Fred, welcome to the forum. Please give us the information on it; toggle marking, date, caliber, serial number, photos if possible.

Luger
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what/where the numbers are. The markings are hard to describe. I tried to upload a photo but it is too big for this forum board. I believe it is a 9mm though.
Email me at [email protected] and I'll email you the photo. Thanks. Fred |

Fred, I am sure the Luger collectors on this forum are willing to offer you help and are willing to answer any questions you may have. But you will have to give them more photos and info. We can even help you with posting your pictures
If you are not able to provide us with any info on markings proof marks ect, give us more photos. Maybe start by telling us the toggle inscriptions and chamber date (if there is one)? This will give us a basic idea of what type of luger this is. Looks pretty nice from what I can see though (but there is so much more to it than that). |

This Luger appears to be a byf 42, or possibly a late byf 41 in reasonably nice condition with original finish (just an educated guess). Assuming it is, and that the numbers match, and the bore is decent, I would give a low end estimate of $1300 and a high end estimate of $1800. The chipped spare magazine and the poor condition of the holster tend to hurt the value somewhat.
