When you say " I built them from demilled AK kits" what does it mean?

Alf, here in the theoretically free Untied States of America, importation of certain things from Soviet block (even former Soviet block) countries is prohibited. The only way to get these AKs into country is as demilled parts kits. They essentially torch cut the receiver into three parts and remove a bit. Then sell them as parts kits.
In order to rebuild them into rifles one must use no more than 10 specifically defined parts original parts and the rest must be US made. Since these are pistols the same stupid rules don't apply. I've built quite a few of both types, pistol and rifle. In order to build these guns, the parts kits must be stripped to it's bare essentials and then rebuilt with a new receiver.

Alf, let me save you a lot of time and frustration...
We're talking about the BATFE. If you're looking for sense and reason, you're looking in the WRONG PLACE!!!

Alf -
The "BATFE" is our country's "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives." They are the federal agency which makes the rules and regulations regarding firearms in the United States of America. Mauser720 - Ron
