Anyone here have a Steyr GB?
I have an opportunity to buy one in the phosphate finish. My understanding is that there were only 937 imported with phosphate. How do they do with regards to accuracy and reliability? Anyone have first hand experience with one these things? Is $725 in 98% condition with two mags worth it? According to the bluebook that's high.....but there is often a difference between the bluebook and reality. Thanks!

The trick with these things is telling the difference between the Rogak, which was awful, and the GB, which was generally pretty good functionally. The Rogak is the stainless steel one. The Steyr GB was not a commercial success, and so the gun is uncommon at least in the US, and i suspect everywhere except maybe Pakistan. I remember everyone wanting one for the 18 round magaine, but then balking at the huge pricetag.
The gun uses a gas delayed blowback design, which doesn't work well when dirty. I heard that the gun was a competitor in the US Army M9 trials, but was dropped early on due to functioning problems. The gun was eventually beaten to death by the Beretta 92, Glock 17, and Sig P226. I am not aware of any reason to pay a premium for one, unless you really want something weird. Just my $0.02 H |

I got a good look at this one last night and there was some pitting in the barrel......not much but it was there nonetheless. I thought these things had a chromed barrel inside and out. How could that happen?

I very much appreciate you're helping me with this tac but with all due respect, there is no way this thing could have had more than a few boxes of ammo through it. It is very tight and the finish is like new. There is just no wear anywhere. With steyr, quality control is never a question so I'm confident it was properly chromed. Isn't it entirely possible that some cheap corrosive ammo, such as the egyptian crap in the early 90's, was used and then it just sat? We're not talking a shot out barrel here, just a few specks mostly towards the front.
