Hog Hunting

This has nothing to do with Lugers, but it is about father & son bonding. Thought some friends here would like to know.

My son and I went hog hunting this weekend with some guys from the office. It was his first hunt and he got one.

We had a great time!

There was a very interesting documentary on the Discovery channel about wild hogs, the night before last called "The Pig Bomb".

They are speculating that they are cross breeding with illegally imported and released Eurasian (Russian) Boar. Which can grow to 600+ lbs. and is very aggressive.

No, I didn't shoot one the hunt is $50 a person and $100 per hog. I don't have a big enough freezer to hold more than one hog.

He used a 7.62 X 39 round on an AR-15 platform, it would have been kewl to shoot one with a Luger, but I don't think a 9mm has enough behind it to take one down right away. One guy used a 45 cal. Wild hogs are tough as nails and can get real nasty.

It's usual for hunters (and soldiers...and cowboys, now that I think of it) to pose with their weapons...and sometimes their kill...

I can assume from your lack of freezer space that you find the beast tasty?

Many out here in the sandy desert hunt Javalina. They run in pretty large numbers but are not as large as some in other parts of the country. They have to be processed and cooked properly or the meat is gamey.

Here in Germany we also have some hogs- I´m every day in the wood- and I have some friends there. This hog is a female- I know her since four years. She growed old and is a realy big one- in late autumn I think she is about 135 kg weighty. As you can see she eats out of my hand. One photo is from spring the other from the last two weeks.
