Gun Books, OT

I would like to HIGHLY recommend "Marine Sniper" by Charles Henderson. I know we have recently been talking briefly about good Military Books and this is a dandy and very easy to read. I read half of it before I couldnt stay awake anymore the first late night, it is that good. It is a Biography on the premiere Marine Corp Sniper, Carlos "White Feather" Hathcock. Several years ago Mr Hathcock was at the Astrohall Gun Show in Houston. I had the good fortune to meet and talk with him and got his autograph on a paperback copy of the book which I bought from him. This was about two or three years before he died. A great American hero who did not get the recognition he deserved due to the prejudice that the American public and many Armed Forces personnel had toward snipers during WWII and the Korean & Viet Nam conflicts.

While we are off the subject; one of the best books that I have ever read is Stephen Hunter's "Point of Impact". This is the first in a trilogy of books written about "Bob the Nailer" Swagger, an ex Marine Corps sniper that gets involved in a government conspiracy. The other two books are follow ups "Black Light", and "A Time To Hunt". These are a "must read" for anyone interested in guns that enjoy a good action-adventure-mystery.Anothe excellent book by Hunter, is a prequel to the Swagger books: "Hot Springs", which is about Swaggers father helping to clean up Hto Springs Ark in it's heyday of gangsters and gambling.

Hugh, you are right about Stephen Hunter's books. I have read them all, and they are absorbing and entertaining to say the least. Any moderate sized library should have them on the shelf.
