1918 DWM extra numbers help
Hi guys I have been helping an older friend evaluate his things . My interest is weimar/police era but I have a good collection of reference material and does not show up. It is allegedly a ww1 vet bring back but I numbers on the left just aft of the side plate and front grip strap are German but I am a novice. Sorry the bad pictures, the lighting was awful. Thanks for any help Wallace

These are not normal for this WW1 era German Luger. Not Unit marks either..I would have to say these are some number placed there to identify the pistol as an inventory or to some person? Heaven only knows and it is unlikely you will ever know for sure.

I agree. Unless you have a specific provenance for the odd inventory numbers, they do not add, but detract from the pistol's value.
