I don't think so... he might have gotten "shot up" with something else, but that's between him, the players' union, and MLB.

I know I stretched the "Off Topic" a bit, but I'll claim temporary insanity brought on by the witnessing of what had once been considered IMPOSSIBLE.

Jack, I have to admit that I simply don't follow sports, no real interest, so I have to assume that the Yankee's winning was the huge surprise for you?

Ed
A pitcher throws a "no hitter" in baseball when he doesn't allow the other team a single hit in the course of the game. It is a very rare occurrence, and the Mets (despite having some of the greatest hall of fame pitchers on their roster) had never had one. The San Diego Padres are now the only team in MLB to not have a no-hitter.

In baseball terms, it's absolutely HISTORIC.

It was the Mets 8,020th game.

Well, I see no problem with being happy and showing it.

I would have done the same.

I wonder how many of the Lugerforum members have this same attitude regarding professional or college sports... including me, that makes three of us!

I can watch a good game of any sport with others just to be sociable, but I don't care who wins, and I would never puts sports on my TV unless it was requested by a guest...

OTOH, I love watching U.S. teams competing in the Olympics in ANY sport...

As sort of an informal poll... if you are part of this elite club with Jerry, Ed and I, hit the "thank" button on this post... or just post your sentiments in the thread...

I agree 100% with you. I watch ONLY the Olympics and the Superbowl and the Olympics is more of a national pride thing rather than the sports aspect. Without meaning ANY disrespect to anybody, It always seemed to me that the real sports nuts out there were really living vicariously through others. I prefer to go out and DO.

My wife enjoys watching golf on the weekends and is a real Titans fan. A lot of our friends enjoy basketball, but my heart only belongs to my hometown team, the Silver and Black. The Oakland Raiders.

I agree, Jack is enough of a friend, that I meant it as a joke, hope he took it that way.

I don't mind folks sharing things they truly enjoy

I agree. No disrespect to those who watch sports, but some sports fans, music fans, TV-show fans etc. really go overboard and almost make it a lifestyle. I love to watch "American Pickers", but I sure don't understand what possesses people to wear a hat or a T-shirt with their name on it. Ok, you like the show, so what? Or even worse: All those "wannabe gangstas" who dress like pimps and play rap music in their cars with the windows wide open. Sorry, you're not getting rich, famous and respected for doing that, all you will accompish is to add to your idol's good fortune.

I have never been attracted to any of this, I would rather do my own thing and hopefully get respected for what I do. I can respect and admire what other people do, but not to the point where I would start wearing their name on my clothes and decorating my house with their posters. I wouldn't even wear a Luger T-shirt, it's just not my cup of tea.

Exactly. When I start getting PAID to endorse your name, club, organization, etc. THEN I'll wear your Logo or Image.

Why on earth would I pay for the priviledge of making YOU rich?
