Yes, they did. Only the early versions have the caliber on the frame.
Later versions have the caliber rolled onto the barrel. |

This is not an early version, Thus the question, sorry. Here is mine, actual number 1098 serial 2098. It says .30 Luger on it. I can't find the pic of it that shows it good, it is on here. I no longer own the box. People are wanting 1,300 now for one with a box. Isn't that a bit much? 1,500 for this one here. WHY?

Here's the frame on .30 Luger Mauser Parabellum 2085, shipped March 26, 1971:

A memo of the 16th of December, 1971 directs that the 'Mauser Parabellum' designation was to be moved to the center of the frame side, with removal of the calibre designation on the frame.
So we have: 1970-1971: 'Mauser Parabellum' on frame side + Caliber designation on frame side. Between the 15th of september 1971 and the 26th of november, 1971 no caliber designation was present on the barrels. 1971-1972: 'Mauser Parabellum' on frame side + no caliber designation, caliber rolled on the barrel. 1973 - end: Nothing on frame side, caliber rolled on the barrel. |
