Sorry need some more info
I now have a second Luger a S42 with 1936 chamber date. I am assuming, since I haven't been able to purchase one of the good books that have been recommended, that it is a military Luger. All numbers match, has an aluminum bottom magazine(like my BYF42 the number does not match the serial# of the gun), it looks as though it was handled alot as the bluing on the front and back of the grip is pretty well gone, but very good everywhere else. Also the BYF42 has P08 stamped by the safety and this one doesn't. David

Re: Sorry need some more info
Well it's sure a military, because S/42 is the military code for Mauser. Yours being a 1936 it should have strawing.
I have a 1937 S/42 a late 37 as it's not strawed. I think the P08 missing from the side is normal as mine don't have it. Regards,Brandon |

Re: Sorry need some more info
I believe they started stamping P-08 on the frame in 1941.

P.08 stamp is strictly Mauser and I think 1941 is the start year... (EOM)

You would need to ask a higher autority about that.
