Luger Mainspring Installation-Step #5
Okay, you ate your Wheaties right? With the pliers in one hand GRIP the end of the mainspring with the mainspring, guide and pliers in the alignement of Step #4. Hold the left end with the pliers PUSH with determination the guide rod through the middle of the spring using the tapered rod as a pushing tool until you can hook the end of the guide rod OVER the end of the compressed main spring!
This is about 1/2 the total physical effort of the entire installation. Again, wearing your EYE PROTECTION prior to the "Big PUSH" http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/MSpring5.jpg |

Re: Step #5
Thor,
For many years I have assembled the mainspring assy. without pliers by inserting the hook into the spring and pushing the hook through the side of the spring, then screwing the spring onto the hook until it snaps through the closed end loop. A small pin is used to hold the cone end of the hook and the spring may be rotated by hand. No cussin, no lost springs, works every time ! Easy no pliers. Easy as That ViggoG |

Re: Addendum
This Assy. may now be inserted into the frame with a tool of thr GL type and compressed and hooked on the "L" witha tool such as Tom has designed and uses.
Easy as falling down and no Wheaties or Sailors Dictionarys needed. Two or three heads are better when working togather, a tough job has now been made much easier! ViggoG |

Re: Step #5
I did the twist method for a while but I prefer the plier method, it just seems faster to me! Thor
