1970's Mauser Lugers

Well, from the latest postings, and my own personal experience, the only "sure bet" out there is the ORIGINAL MAUSER LUGERS from the 1970's. They are made well, have in my opinion great collectability, the product of a great manufacturer, and best of all the price is fairly well established, within a few hundred dollars each way. I recommend these guns especially to new Luger collectors because the possibility of being "burned" is very slim to none. I WANT new collectors to see what I see in Lugers, and not be put off by a BAD experience right off the bat....believe me I KNOW.... it will come soon enough!

Im leaning too in that direction. I just for one dont want to risk buying collector grade Lugers, its too risky, and for someone on a limited budget like me, I cant afford to make mistakes. Im doing my hardest trying to find some pictures of these, if you have any please share them with me, Im dying to see some up close and in detail. I have heard they are real nice. Good thing too, most from what I understand are made with Swiss styling, and I love Swiss looking Lugers!!!

I have four 70's Mauser Lugers: two swiss style, one Russian Commemorative, and one Navy Commemorative. One swiss I shoot and the other is NIB. It shoots great, but I don't care for the feel of the grips and the grip saftey. The grips are flat, not rounded like the P08. Later on Mauser made a P08 style Luger, which goes for about $100 - $200 more.

I have a commemorative LP08 in .30 Luger with a one-of-a-kind engraved WERLE stock and all original accessories. A beauty for the eyes. I have also commemorative P08 and Bulgarian. I collect also accessories related to these Lugers variations. I am totally agree with your point of you.

I wrote more than one time my point of you in the forum and I am very happy to see that other collectors love these Lugers.

The P08 style does not have the grip saftey. I don't mind the grip saftey on my "original" lugers, but the 70's Mausers come from the swiss lugers. The grip safety is not as contoured to the grip as the "original" lugers.

I find the grip safety on these Lugers just doesn't feel nice and smooth. It takes a conscious effort to depress it. I wish it worked as well as the one on the 1911 type pistols.

Tracy, All of the standard 06/71s (Swiss M29 style frame) and the 06/73 (PO8 style with bump at bottom) DO HAVE the grip safety. The only one that I know for sure did not have it, were the 10 or so Target Models with bull barrels and ajustable rear sights. Tom h.

I think there was one 29/65 prototype made by Mauser that did not have a grip safety either.

Does anyone know whose collection this gun might be in...?

A month or so ago I picked up a NIB 6" bbl, 9mm, swiss-style Mauser-Interarms 29/71 for $ 825.00 + S/H/I.

This is the only luger that I shoot...and it is dead accurate...

Got it from Tom Heller (in the Forum Links section to the left...).

You might want to e-mail him to see what he has left...

The SimpsonLTD.com website (also in the Links) has a bunch listed, too, in their Luger Room under Interarms-listings; but prices there are a bit higher...

The Luger w/o grip safety is a rare variant. I have one of them. The only model w/o are the P08 commemorative and the little set of P08 not commemorative made aroud 1983. My pistol present also a fat barrel 4" in .30 Luger.
