Question Slight color variance

Gentlemen,

I would like your opinion on something. I was looking closely in natural sunlight at my recently acquired byf 42. When looking from above, the center toggle link appears to have a slight variance in color from the extractor and top of the breach-block. It is a darker color and I hope the following picture conveys what I am trying to say. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Not to worry. Lugers drew parts from different bins, which may have been blued at different times. Other variables aré heat treating on the bolts and not on toggle links, etc.
As long as the number and the font match, You should be ok.

Question on that last photo. Did all the BYF guns have the chamfered portions of the front toggle link, as seen directly above and below, (or right and left in the photo) the BYF inscription? I recall that being common to Erfuts but not DWM's, and I have none of the later guns here to look at.
I'm sure it is common and I just never noticed. Just curious.

Hi David, All Lugers that I'm familiar with have chamfered edges on their middle toggle links. 1942 byf Mausers had noticeably wider chamfers but I don't know exactly when the change took place. Ezra's gun looks fine to me.
Regards, Norm

Your toggle train looks normal and original to me.
