S/42 shooter--test
Its my G-date S/42 shooter, just a test to see if I can scan the Luger and successfully post the picture.

Dwight,
Very good, looks like you have mastered this Fine Art of posting photos! It took me forever to figure out how to do that! Marvin |

Re: S/42 shooter--test
Me too and my early ones were ALWAYS out of focus. I had some close ups I took at Ralphs place of a Vickers Luger and you couldnt tell it was even a Luger it was so out of focus. You dont good there Dwight! Thor

Re: Early Camera Trials
This is what happened when I didnt know how to make the camera focus on the Luger I was trying to take a pic of the top of and not the background. Thor

Re: Early Camera Trials
At a guess, you discovered just how much autofocus loves that kind of a background, yes?
And actually I cheated, these are straight off the scanner bed, I haven't come up with a good photographic set-up yet. --Dwight |

Re: Early Camera Trials
Thanks. Its a Russian-dip, mismatched toggle & breechblock (not dipped), someone (not me) took all the usually strawed parts and polished them to bright steel. I rather like the effect, actually. Also, is accurate as all heck!

Re: S/42 shooter--test
Can you tell me please, the magazine shown with the beautiful Luger has what appears to be a black plastic bottom and concentric rings. Is this the correct mag. for this weapon?

Re: S/42 shooter--test
My guess is that is an old MecGar Mag, I have replaced several bottoms like that one, but I dont recall, it is certainly not S/42 vintage IMO. Thor

Re: S/42 shooter--test
Totally incorrect and inauthentic mag. Its a Mec-Gar, modern construction, made in Italy. High quality. I have several which I use in my Lugers for shooting. There may be a story behind them, if so someone else on the forum surely knows it.
The proper magazine for this gun would be aluminum bottom, with serial# and proof. I don't have one. --Dwight |
