Lots of lipstick on that pig...
Refinished, re-gripped, apparently mismatched, terminally altered. Etc, etc, etc. Value as a shooter would be $800 max. Probably more like $650, IMHO. But it may be a very good shooter... dju |

Yes, interesting to look at, but towards the lower end for me. In addition, the hand engravered swastika turns me off...

The story is that it was found buried under a house in Mexico. I never even thought there would have been nazi's in Mexico. Still cool, but thanks for the help so I don't overpay!

The swastika was not put there by Nazis, but by someone after the fact who wanted it to seem more "nazi-like". Probably a returned GI who wanted a better story to tell than his neighbor.
But really, if you wanted a project, one could emery cloth the swastika off, re-blue or re-straw the small stuff once the peeling gold is removed, buff up or replace that sideplate, repop. grips, throw it all in the bluing tank, and you would still have a shooter...but a less garish one. dju |

Don't sell the Mexicans short!!
I've seen this kind of Blueing/Gold and fake Pearl treatment on many guns in Mexico. I've also seen the addition of Nazi regalia or symbols added to guns down there as well. Let's not always blame the poor, returning GI!! |

This gun may be shootable, but I don't think it is worth anywhere near the estimates. $400.00 tops in my book. There is just too much hand work to be done to make it look like a Luger again.

Has anyone noticed that the grips are for a grip safety Luger? I would consider offering $60 for the grips just to add them to my grip collection.
