Flowers. He's probably just about to go to the Front and has been adorned with flowers by local women and girls sending off the troops.

Flowers..... Flowers!!!!!! I didn't get no stinkin flowers!!!!!!!!!!!When I left for a war, the ladies gave me a lot more than flowers.............

When I came back, it was a different story and decided to stay with my own kind and stayed another fifteen years. It was good therapy.
