Portuguese Luger question
Is anyone familiar with Portuguese lugers without crests? I have one aquired many years ago that has no crest. It also has a civilian/contract serial number rather that military with small letter. It is a DWM 7.65mm wityh a 4-3/4" barrel and a grip safety. According to several gunsmiths I have shown it to the receiver has not been ground. Has anyone heard of such an animal?
Thanks Walt |

Portuguese Luger
I owned one years ago...the crest had been removed after King Manuel II was 'booted'
The clue to it's contract was the triangle in a circle proof. That's the Portuguese proof, I am told. Orv Reichert |

Re: Portuguese Luger
Thanks Orv. But as I said originally this one apparwently hasn't been ground. Also from what I have read all Portuguese Lugers, Army or Navy, should have military style serial numbers with a small letter. This one is number in the commercoal style throughout. Thanks for the input though.
