Please allow me to introduce myself...

I'm MACE and I love to learn about cool guns. I just wanted to drop my first post to say hi before I venture off to the forums to ask ignorant questions. Notice I say ignorant, not stupid. Ignorance can be cured...

Welcome aboard, Mace! You will find this to be the most helpful, friendly site for information in general and Lugers in particular you may ever visit.

Welcome, MACE. Do you have any Lugers- specific areas of interest? KW

I've got two Sarco imports I bought about twenty years ago. I've always wondered about their story - probably some variation of an East German detainment...

I was giving them a detail clean the other day and marveling at the intricate design and manufacture. Thinking it was semi-crazy to build a war implement like that. Wondering why the early designers went straight to the elegant designs instead of the brutish simplicity of later designs (thinking stampings and such)...

Anyway, I thought I'd seek out a fount of knowledge to help me learn the technicalities and lore of such an interesting pistol.

Please post/attach some pics of the two. Sarco had some incredible deals 20 years ago, and not necessarily VoPo/RC items.

I can remember visiting Sarco on numerous occasions. One trip was to buy an MP40 Kit, (pre 86). There were hundreds and hundred of cardboard boxes stacked along a wall. Each contained an almost pristine, matching MP40 parts kit with a torch cut receiver and one magazine for $110. The MP38 kits were $130!!

Those, indeed, were the days!

Prices went up by 1990...Here's an old receipt I found that shows a 'kit' for a lot more...

Notice the address of the company, compared to Sarco's address...
