30 Luger Reamer please
I am trying to restore a 10 inch barrel which was improperly chambered - 0.025 to deep. Got it turned back one thread, re-threaded, and now I need to deepen the chamber by about 0.024 inches. Does anyone have a reamer they would be willing to sell me? Something with enough life to do 0.025 inches. Thanks. Dennis

There are two reamer rental sites commented on here - 4D is one, I don't recall the other, but the cost is minimal - Something like $20...I rented one some time back, it was brand new...

4D is a 7-day rental, Elk Ridge [ReamerRental.com] is a 3-day rental. 30 Luger is not listed at 4D but IIRC I inquired & they emailed me that they did have it...
Edit: 4D is $32 now; Elk Ridge is $36...Price went up... No deposit required if you pay by CC... Quote:
I have a 30 cal blank and was thinking of a 30 cal artillery barrel... How about some pics???

EBay acquisition
I actually got this barrel off ebay advertised as 'rifle barrel with wooden case' When I looked at the photos it was an aftermarket barrel from probably the '30s with nice front ramp sight and no rear sight. The wood case looked like a shoulder stock but was not. Nice though. Barrel had the barrel extension attached. I just popped sear set and ejector onto the barrel/extension and shot it. Punched primers and ejection problems resolved into excessive headspace. Don't know how to post photos or where.
I had looked into 4D and R/R rentals but with me gone so much plus my prejudice for owning the tool I use I prefer to just buy one, use it when I get the time, then ebay it. So.... anyone willing to part with a 30 luger reamer? |

I would take Brownell's 'in stock' with a grain of salt...That's how my 30 Mauser reamer was listed...Clymer no longer sells to the 'general public', you have to go through Brownell's...Who refer the order to Clymer...Who sends it to Brownell's...And then to you...It was a lengthy process, and I rented one in the meantime...

Photos?
We shall see if I can attach photos. Please excuse the barrel clamp - it is not a factory rear sight. Dennis. I just do not like having to work to a 3 day rental where the cost to me is about 1/3 of the new price. I am gone to much to guarantee I will be somewhere with the barrel chucked up, supported and trued up on the day the reamer arrives.

4D rentals are for 7days, not including mailing time. I recently rented two from them. They ship them priority mail and the ones I got looked new. They are excellent people to work with.
