P38 Holster Transformation
I just wanted to give a shoutout to our own Jerry Burney, who took a sow's ear of a P38 holster and got her ready for the Prom.
Many thanks, Jerry! Before |

Doug (or Jerry) -
In your pics it looks like this holster has a top flap and a side flap, with both opening out...Is that right??? I'm curious because this 'style' is what the infamous bodyguard/flashlight Luger used, at least that is what TBLAP show... Is this a common Walther holster, that is, with a side flap as well as the top flap???

Rich, This configuration is pretty standard for the P-38. The top opens and is affixed to the side, once undone the side flap is pushed aside to grasp the pistol.
because this 'style' is what the infamous bodyguard/flashlight Luger used..do you have a link handy to show this holster?

Is there a specific name for this style??? Like "Sniatecki holster" or something like that??? What is the stud attached to??? The main body or the side flap???

Rich, Thanks! Well..as fascinating as this pistol and holster are they are both pretty much a one of "style"?
The holster is kind of weird when you think about it. The "flashlight" attachment must be off of the pistol to be inserted into the holster. Where was it carried then? The holster MIGHT be a modification of a standard commercial Luger holster..Even if made new why is it so much different as the pistol with out the flashlight is pretty much the same as any other Luger? It appears they have just gone to a severe mod to get rid of the pull-up strap. Questions with no sure answers to be had. As far as what this type of side flap holster might be called..side flap holster I guess. The stud is hammered onto the side flap. This method holds the side flap and the top closed all at once.
