Any Ideas about this Luger?
Hello,
Got this Luger basically for free in a trade for some other items but I don’t know anything about them. I am sure it’s had a facelift and I don’t think it’s all that but I wanted to ask the experts. I have no need for an old Luger(no offense) so I am going to just sell it. Any ideas? https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-qRMgvq |

1912 Erfurt...with chromed pieces...
Or maybe just highly polished...The rest is heavily buffed and re-blued...

If forum member DZ didn’t sell this one, he sold one very similar to it - buffed/reblued Erfurt with nickled(?) small parts; it’s hard to confirm if this was his gun though because he has a habit of deleting his posts If I recall correctly, his gun finally sold for somewhere around Ed’s estimate of this one.

The photos came up this morning...
Kind of a nice looking gun, a bit over-buffed around the extractor but not otherwise too bad. A guy could strip/re-straw the small parts, either clean up or replace the grips, and have a nice shooter. As is, if it functions well, $750 retail. dju |

I'm a thinking we almost need to open up a gallery of post-factory Luger variations... Both to document individual guns, and show the creativity of Luger owners...
Perhaps subsections like: - In the service of creativity - Mining for profits - Just plain unusual - Growing the legends of the Reich etc....

I'm no expert but I would start a little higher like 850 and let any potential buyer talk you.down a bit. Ask most guys looking for a shooter luger when was the last time they actually found one for under 700 bucks. I'm talking about the guy that just wants a luger but not into the hobby. jim
