DMW Artillery Luger question
Hello, I am currently looking at a artillery luger made by DMW in 1918. The shop is asking $1500 for the pistol, but i have some concerns with it. First off the pistol seems to be a different color, more of a blackish color than blue. Also the grooves where the stock would attached has been shaved off a little. Any information about the value of this pistol would be greatly appreciated and any history of why it would be black, ive been looking for an artillery luger for some time. Ive attached photos to this post. Thanks.

Welcome to the board.
From what I can see, it is likely reblued, mismatched, and has had the markings on the right side of the chamber defaced. Your pictures won't enlarge, they must be on an outside server. Please put them on the forum server. Some guys will not go to third party hosts, and eventually the photos will disappear and the thread will be useless in future. As to the price, a mismatched reblued shooter is listed on one of these boards for $1100; which is probably closer to the value as a shooter.

well, not sure about the black, as the finish looks normal to me.
Its mismatched and the stock lug is ground off? A shooter artillery I would say is worth $1000 to $1200 - but is the stock lug ground or? If ground, then its no fun because you can't add a stock to it.

Hi Jarred,
The barrel doesn’t appear to have a front sight band, meaning it’s been shortened or it’s a replacement. That and the shaved stock lug would disqualify the gun for me. My advice, keep looking! Norm |

Hunk of steaming junk. Not collectable and it may not even shoot. Mismatched side plate..I might pay half of what they are asking..nah. No stock lug. Leave it in the shop for some fool to buy.
