Germany barrels
A friend of mine went and helped an older gentleman on some assorted lugers - I should let him tell it, but my recollection of it was 3 or 4 artillerys and a couple of military 9mm 4'.
He said that they were all fairly rough and mismatched, in addition to likely have been basement gunsmith barrel added (he could see rough markings on an artillery barrel) One of the artillerys was missing a firing pin, spring and retainer. The older guy had some assorted parts, couple of barrels, etc. My friend told me about it and asked if I had an extra firing pin, retainer, spring and I said, sure. A few days later two barrels arrived. I call them the attic look. VERY dry, and bluing just seems a tiny bit off color. I oiled them several times and now they look just about new but would not surprise me if they dry out a bit. I think new old stock? **If after the war, would they have been marked 'made in german"? ****If recent, would they have been marked at all? |

Unsure Ron?
9mm fits right in, 7.65mm falls inside. |

Ed,
If it is an original DWM 9mm barrel you can see the step in the chamber.

Made in Germany barrels
The "MADE IN GERMANY" marked barrels are in general, pretty good, some batches better than others? On just about all of them, the front sight dovetail is too big, allowing for the sight blade to move loosely about.... Worse yet, some of them have a too small front sight base platform to where the sight hangs over front and back?... Most of them tighten up and index well and all is in alignment. I also like that the threads are cut to the shoulder like originals, and not into a recess behind the flange like most reproductions... Where and when they came into the country, I don't know, but there has been a bunch of them show up in the last few years... I always have three or four on hand... They shoot well... best to all, til...lat'r.....GT

....Ed,
Don't fire those cartridges, as they are corrosive!!! yawn - okay - was an example, but corrosive cartridges simply require warm water Ed, we have seen this exact type of barrel before. Do you remember my earlier post? no, will go look |

The picture would be nice stored in a sticky, perhaps even the part of the dwg that shows a portion of the exact dimensional info of said vintage chamber.
