Default pistol and holster

Would it be unheard of that a 1937 Luger would be in a 1939 Holster?

Certainly not. Neither the Germans or any other Army concerned themselves with dates on equipment. I was in Germany in 1970 and was issued a 1943 Remington 1911A1 with a 1965 made US shoulder holster.
