Default Double Unit Marks

My 1911 Erfurt Model 1908 has two sets of unit marks. One set of marks is “177.R.” The other set is Xed out “12.T.S.1.169.”
I will appreciate help interpreting these unit marks.

177th Regiment and 12th Train Sanitaets Battalion, 1st company, weapon 169. The latter is an ambulance unit.

Thank you George. Do you think the Lugers were carried by train personnel and not medical staff?

Imperial German medical staff were armed, they smoked too.

"Train" as in logistical transport formation, not RR.

I have a 1912 Erfurt with "12.T.S.3.208." canceled, then added "106.S.7.22" also canceled, and finally "96.R.10.6"- which is not canceled.

It also arrived here in a converted Reichsrevolver holster.

A luger that really "got around".
