Question ERFURT double date E stamped

Some days ago I was surfing the Net and found this interesting "double date" ERFURT bearing a letter "E" stamped near the double date, that's something I'd never seen before, and I was wondering is some of the real experts here could give me some enlightenment about it.

I have seen the E stamp before, but I don't recall the "explanation".
Perhaps someone will remember the thread!

So perhaps nobody knows what that big E mark means?

At least no one who has seen this post, it has only been up less than 48 hours. I have not had time to look for the thread I mentioned.

Sergio,
I knew I'd seen the "E" before, this offer is at Simpson's but does not show the "E" very well.
So there are at least two of them.
This one is 1920 over 1914, with the "E" after the 1920 property marking.

https://simpsonltd.com/erfurt-luger-...te-1920e-1914/

I'll try to grab a picture when I get time.
