Talking Finally I managed a Portuguese contract byf 42

Took me a while but at last I managed one. And it never left the Country.
Came complete with holster, spare magazine, loading tool and cleaning rod.

Had more service years than the ones that remained in Germany.

Congratulations! I am glad you succeeded in your quest for a Portuguese Luger. A very nice example.

What type of magazines were those issued with? Were they marked or serialized?

The magazines are marked fxo, eagle/37 and P.08. They are not numbered.

Very nice Luger and accompanying rig!

How does one tell if it is a Portuguese contract Luger??? Is it just the serial number???

You can only tell by the serial numbers and the block letter. They go from 149m to 5322m. There is no other difference from the ones that went into German military service.

A few that were destined for Africa service were parkerized in Portugal.
