Erfurt P-08 -- "MADE IN GERMANY"???
I have a 1918 Erfurt P-08. To my chagrin, one serial does not match all the others on the gun, the one on the locking bolt. Then I discovered "MADE IN GERMANY"on the underside of the barrel. I have read that MADE ON GERMANY was stamped on some guns after WWI and exported, and it may or may not affect the value, depending on who you ask. But in every case, the stamp was on the frame and NOT the barrel. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject?

"They"...Whoever "they" was, stamped the "germany" export stamp just about everywhere. I've got a Navy stamped on the underside of the barrel as well. I don't believe there was any regulation dictating where the gun needed to be marked post WW1. Those rules came later. Right side, left side, back, front of the frame, bottom and side of the barrel. Pick one.

Can you post pictures? The Germany export stamp on a barrel commonly indicates that it is the barrel itself which was imported into the US, and can be a sign that that a pistol has been rebarrelled.

Saw an Imperial P-06 Navy where the import stamp was on the top side rail of the frame. You needed to remove the upper part from the fame to actually see the import marking. As mentioned above, the import markings before the Federal 1968 Gun Control Act could be just about anywhere.
Is the barrel on your pistol serial numbed to the frame? If Yes, then the whole pistol was exported, if a different serial or has no number, then the barrel most likely is a replacement
