Prussian Pickelhaube helment
i friend of mine runs a gunshop/ pawn shop and bought some german items and wanted me to look at them. this prussian pickelhaube was in with some of the other items , first one i had ever saw . seems to be in decent shape

It looks like it may have some original parts from an enlisted Cuiassier (cavalry) unit but I suspect it is probably a made up stage prop. It appears to have the original enlisted spike, but has had a fake hair plume added (the cuiassiers did not wear a plume, and if they did it would be on a trichter and not a spike). It also appears that the rear portion of helmet, the so-called "lobster tail" is missing. The front plate is pure fantasy made to look a little bit like a Garde star. It might be worth $200-$300 to someone who wants it for parts - the helmet body, spike base and chin strap rosettes look fairly good.

The chin strap is an add on. It is leather fastened on the inside of the helmet and should be brass scales attached to the rosettes on the outside of the helmet over top the unit kokardes.

it has the rear "lobster tail" the rest of my pictures are poor quality , so i did not post them. i will take better pictures when i go back . he bought everything as a group and paid around 250.00 for everything . i paid him 80.00 for two fxo mags with the black bakelite bottoms , we were both happy, he is not seling the helment , just putting it on a shelf in his shop for display . thanks everyone , for your help .
