Post 1st. Issue DWM P-08...

Just posted, in the Member's Gallery, some nice high rez jpeg photos of a very nice 1st. Issue DWM P-08 luger that was on one of the gun auction sites last week. These "un-dated" P-08's with proofs on the left side of the receiver were made in the 1908-09 timeframe; after which the proofs switched to the right side of the receiver and the chambers were dated.

These were some extra photos the seller sent to me. Nice fellow from Portland, OR. If you "click" on each photo they will enlarge...

Gun serial # 3305b.

Unfortunately, I am not the new owner... <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Pete, As a former Californian, I recall several bumper stickers to the effect that Oregon loves visitors, but don't try moving here and taking our jobs, and as it now appears, lugers. TH

Hello Russ,

I tried my best to become the 1st. Issue's proud owner...only way I will own this one now is if the buyer that won the auction decides to return it for some reason...slim chance of that, I am afraid...

Taught me something the in process about the foolishness of trying to be dollar-wise...should have gone with my heart and thrown my check-book at it...(I need one of those cute emoticons with the character kicking himself in the a**...).

Hello Ed,

Arizona is in my near future...in the cooler altitude of Prescott...should be there by June of this year at the latest.

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />

Ed, as long as Pete stays in Prescott, he'll be OK. I just hope he doesn't try to invade the Phoenix Mauser Territory!! Then, he'll have to watch out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
