Question WaA655 Grips

Just curious, what kind of Luger would the following grips go on and what do the marks on the back represent? Grips marked with an eagle over 655 and two hash marks.

I can find no info on those 'hash' marks. It's beyond me how the seller determined that they were WaA655 grips, or more correctly E/655. The E/655 stamps were used on the 1939 Mauser, perhaps the Luger shown in the picture is one and the grips came off of it and that is how he determined that, if they are original to the weapon.

There appears to be some kind of waffenamt markings on the grip, but it is impossible to tell from the photos what they are. However, the contour of the grips look a heckuva lot more like DWM than Mauser.

Seller claims both grips are marked with an Eagle over 655. I too was consused about the hash marks--maybe the last two digits of a serial number?

Hi Doug, The "slash" marks could be the number "11", but the German "1" has a pronounced slant mark on the top of the vertical line. It could be a off center hit. The E/655 Waffenamt Marks are found on the late 1939 Code 42, through the late byf 41 Lugers. I hope this helps!
