Need Ballpark on Police DWM - 2 match mags
I located a complete rig that is stunning (to me). Now keep in mind that I have only 2 Lugers in my German collection and they are both military pieces.
This DWM has crown N on the LS, 95% blue, 75% straw. Appears to be all original finish. The right side is WaA66 accepted. The grips are not numbered, nor is the firing pin, nor the toggle pin. The gun has been cut for a floorplate safety and appears unhumped and right. Floorplate, takedown, etc are numbered as a commercial would be. What's great is the mags match- rosewood ends, #1 and #2 marked above the SN, and correct period tubes which are almost like stainless...(obviously, no blue). The mags also carry "136" which is part of the unit marking. The holster is 1929 dated, brown, police marked with a "K" inside a sunburst...and the closure strap goes up. Holster is about 75%. It is also unit marked L.E. 136 as is the gun's front grip strap. The tool is present and only mark is the "136". NOW...assuming all the above is accurate...what would you place the value of the rig. Also, any idea on the unit mark?? "L. E." Many thanks...Bob |

pictures Bob, we need pictures!
and L.E. would be Landjagerei Erfurt Value is hard to say without pictures, I would guess $1,300 to $1,500 as a Rig sight unseen, adding a couple of hundred for the matching nickle mags? Ed

Bob,
Sounds like a Sneak. What is the serial number suffix? Matching sneak rigs are few and far between. Steve |

Well, this one is a T-block P08 that also lacks a date topside. Hope this helps. Any additional info would be great and thanks...Bob

Sneaks are in the s,t,u block and may or not be marked with the DWM logo. Most have gripstrap markings and the ones that I have observed are almost always Shutzpolizei rather than Lanjagerei. Serial numbering can be Military, Commercial or a combination of both. The Sneak that I have is numbered both Commercial and Military style.
Hope this helps some. Steve |
