Post Original, Swiss 1929 Bern 9mm Question...

When at Reno, I was chatting with Mr. Bob Lewis about "original" 9mm 1929 Swiss Bern lugers with black grips.

I asked Bob how to tell if the 9mm variety was orginal or just was rebarreled.

Bob pointed out that although the black grips on an "original" 1929 Bern look just like the black bakelite black grips as seen on re-barreled 9mm pieces, the "original" 9 mm barreled pieces black grips are of a different material and somewhat soft. Bob said you can make an indent into the grip material with your fingernail, that you cannot do on the black grips of the rebarreled pieces.

What a great tip !!!

Any of you Forum folks out there own an "original" 9mm 1929 Bern ?
