I don't recognize the caliber (5.3mm), and I don't know how you got it home, but You should be glad that the stock never made it to the U.S.

If you possessed all the components (i.e. the stock) to assemble this gun, you would be in violation of the National Firearms Act of 1934 by possessing what is defined as a short barreled rifle (SBR) that wasn't registered with the Treasury ATF...

A "rifle", to be legal, must be have at least a 16 inch barrel measured from the muzzle to the breechface, and the overall length must be at least 26.5 inches... fail to meet one of these requirements in a shoulder-stocked weapon, and you have just become a federal felon...IF you haven't pre-registered the weapon with the ATF prior to manufacture...

The same thing applies to creation of a pistol from what was originally manufactured as a rifle.

If I were you, I would have the barrel removed and discard it or give it to someone else. You can then have it barreled to .22 LR caliber with a legal length of at least 16 inches, and then have a custom stock fabricated for it. It should make a fine plinker.

John, how does the 26.5" overall length affect folding stock rifles I see for sale, such as the M1 Carbine "Paratrooper" model and the AR 15's?

They must meet that 26.5" requirement. There is no problem meeting this requirement for M-1 Carbines and AR-15 rifles... because the folded length is greater than 26.5"

Some of the shorter barrel AR's do fall under SBR requirements. You have to be careful, just because you can assemble something neat from readily available parts doesn't mean that possession of the complete set of the parts or the assembled item will be legal.

To create or manufacture one of these shortened versions, you must first pay the $200 tax and get approval to do so from ATF. If you do it after the fact, you have violated the law.

Know the law to stay out of trouble, and if you don't know the law yourself...get answers from someone who does.

It's a pistol not a rifle. Wanna sell it? My bolt handle is broken. Mine was owned by a friend who was a WWII vet. He brought it home from Germany but I'm not sure when. You should see the looks I get at the range with this thing.

I don't know much about the markings. Mine has B,G,U w/some crowns over them. I shoot long, shorts and the super colibri when I want to shoot in the yard.

The barreled action show is very similiar in appearance to the new Henry mini-bolt 22lr kids rifle. If you can find one in a local store, you may want to see if your action fits stock. If so, it may be easier to cut down one of these stocks, than to build one from scratch. Tom H.
