Post Remove Hold Open Latch?

Checked the bottom of the Breech Block, found
some deform caused by the Hold Open Latch. Can
I remove the Hold Open Latch when I shoot my
luger? Will it cause some trouble? I think by
removing the Hold Open Latch, I can save some
tear and wear on the bottom of the breech Block.
Is this a good idea? By the way, where is the
number located on the fire-pin?

Thanks.

The hold open will only cause trouble if it is too hard. To remove it simply pull up and out, it will not hurt your gun to fire it without the hold open in place. Early guns did not even have them. Serial number on the firing pin is located just foward of the sear lug. If this is a commercial gun it will usually be blank.
