1935 Holster ID???

I figured I'd paste my post from the P-08 Military Luger Forum here - in hopes Jerry or a holster person can assist IDing what I have..???

First post:
I was just checking the holster that my G date is in (I bought it for my Dad when I was 18). It's proofed - dated 1935.. Looks like DRESDEN on the stamp, but I can't make out the name or the WaAProof Number?

And more info....

WaA 14 and a little "2" or maybe 142 - it's really hard to see, to be honest. I'll try tomorrow... And take a pic..

Makers name: "C????HEN"
Looks like DRESDEN has a little "." at the end...
Anyone know? I'm not a holster guy..???

Here is a VERY rough pic (it's the best I can do under room lights..??!!)... Shows placement, date, etc...

Ahhh - I believe I found it... Still 'THIRD REICH LUGERS", page 40:

"C. HEINICHEN DRESDEN, E/WaA142" Marked with a 1935 date...

Yes, They are quite uncommon. I have seen six or seven now but that's about it. I actually have one myself. Really clear maker and date too. Lucky Me!Now if I could afford a K date to go with it...... Jerry Burney

Hey Jerry!!!

My thanks!!! This is the holster I need to send you that we've discussed in the past. The sad news is - It's been in the family since I bought it 30 years ago for my Dad from the VET, and never really looked at the manufacturer or date... The earlier post from "mowzerluvr" looking for a "G" date holster, spurred me to take a look at it from a "collectors" perspective rather then "Dad's Luger" perspective.

Anyway - my thanks again for the feedback and reply!!

My thanks - and this time it is going to happen!!! I just packed up the holsters (yes - I'll send a few, two of which are just for your interest and if you'd like to get some ideas for shoulder holster patterns). I'll probably send them out Fedex next day on Monday - given that I don't want them hanging around a warehouse over the weekend. Is Fedex OK for you - or would you prefer USPS next day?

Again - my sincerest thank you Jerry - I can't wait to see the magic you perform to the 1935 Luger Holster..!!

More like on a work-release program John D... I only have the afternoon for a breather and then back in the cage until this job is finished... Monday is already X'ed off my calendar... and I am waiting to hear about the rest of next week.

I had a minute free and access to my computer outside of the firewall and I just couldn't resist pokin' fun at a fellow "young" man like Jerry. I turn 56 later this month... days like today I feel 76!

John, WOW! Really? I would look forward to doing this. Earning my keep so to speak....

I usually prefer USPO priority mail with delivery confirmation for tracking. Insurance is mostly for breakage. I have sent hundreds of holsters all over for the last six years and have never lost one. (knock on wood!)

Fed Ex is good if it is more convenient for you but more expensive I suspect.

I will not actually be in Yuma untill late Monday so the reason I like USPO is they hold my mail, no problem and it is safe. I don't know what Fed Ex would do with the package if I were not there to get it.

Anyway,I am happy you will be sending it. I will let you know when I get my hands on it.

John S, Thanks...I hope so too. 54 but like you I sometimes wonder if someone dosen't come along and beat me up every night. Feels like it in the morning!

Hi,
Here is a little information on the 1935 military holsters that you might find interesting. The 1935 military holsters like the one above are fairly hard to find, but most collectors have one or a couple, so they are not impossible to find. I have 5 myself. Also, there are actually two different variations of the 1935 military holster. The most common is like the one pictured above, and the other has the 1935 inside the holster opposite from the pull up strap. I do not believe there are any pictured in any books at this time. I've seen one of these and heard of a couple more. These are by far the rarer of the two variations. Just some information you might find interesting in the 1935 military holsters. All are a great find. -- Bill

My thanks for the additional info!!! It would be great to perhaps build a photo archive of some of the various 1935 holsters you mention. Honestly, as you know - I'm not a holster guy, but would be willing to assist with building or maintaing such an archive? Or providing pictures of mine, altough it's in rather "rough shape" (see my note to Jerry below).

John, No problem, I will be here to get it. I am busy sorting all the junque I brought down here from Colorado and going through the mail and boxes of holsters that accumulated.

Yes, I am excited to see it all and no worries, I pattern most all of the items that come my way! I have a twenty pound box of patterns I have collected over the last 10 years of the most amazing stuff. It's quite valuble to me as it has taken many years and hours to collect authentic original measurements of extroidinary Luger accoutrements. Everything from Luger lanyards to leather cases from 1900 for the Luger carbine.

I will let you know when I get it and what I think of it! Thanks, Jerry
