.30 Luger malfuntion question
I experienced two identical malfunctions while shooting my .30 1920 DWM today. In each case, the cartridge failed to go straight into the chamber. Instead, the cartridge got jammed bullet-up in the ejection port.
I was shooting Fiocchi ammunition, which I understand is somewhat under-powered. My thinking is that the bolt did not move back far enough (short stroked) which caused the malfuntions. Is this likely, or should I find a new magazine spring? |

I would try a new magazine by MecGar as a first step. If that does not cure the problem, then start to look at the amunition.
My 1906 an Mauser Parabellum will not cycle with Fiochi ammo. I have not tried Winchester but have heard good things about it. I buy mine from a loader in Kaiser, Oregon. He does ship and if you would like, I can look up his phone number and email address when I get home. Steve Richards |
