The Place To Shoot in Portland
Anyone in the Portland (Oregon) area who shoots at The Place To Shoot indoor range might want to be aware of a policy change there.
Starting Oct. 1, you will only be able to shoot with ammunition you buy at the range. I talked to them about it for awhile today, the precise reason for the change is not entirely clear but seems to have something to do with the rent for their building going up 54% (!) and maybe having to make an commitment to improve air quality. They apparently will have several brands of ammunition available (I told them about the brand-related function problems with Lugers), we'll see how their prices turn out. They will also make allowances for odd calibers like .30 Luger and others which they won't be carrying. --Dwight |

Hi Dwight,
My local range did the same thing a couple of years ago. They said they were trying to improve the consistency of the brass casings they sweep off the floor and use for reloading themselves. They also discourage folks picking up brass off the floor, now. Their prices for ammo are comparable to Wal-Mart...so most folks do not complain. |
