Talking Bolo Broomhandle Restoration

A special thanks to Albert of Imperial Arms for the help in my questions regarding the finish details on Bolo Pistols. He is very knowledgeable in many German Pistol variations and he is an advanced collector (take a good look at his website) Thanks again Albert because this Bolo is in pretty bad shape and your information will help me make it look right!
If you havent seen Albert's site click the link below, it is worth the visit.

Hey, Thor
My name is Jon Jackson I'm a begining colector of Lugers and Broomers I have a C96 in much the same condition as your Bolo. I think mine has more pitting though. Any way I just got it entirly down to bare metal and started to reblue. I wish I would have taken some before pictures before I started oh-well. I still need to track down some parts (follower). I've tried e-gunparts but no luck. Anyway I was curius about the shape your bore. Mine doesent even show the slightest bit of rifeling so I think I think I will have it rerifeld to 9m.m. or resleaved to back to 7.63 german. any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated.
thank you Jon Jackson

In your part of the country, Redmonds does a good job of relining barrels. Jon, I would recommend the following, If you cant see any rifling, it will shoot very poorly. Of course a field test is in order first to find out how it shoots. Then decide if you want it relined. You can also have them cut a new 9mm bore for a 9mm Luger cartridge. Hugh says they do a good job on this too.

Hey, Thor
Thank you very much for your quick responce and advice. I was actually going to use Redmunds for my barrel repair. I talked whith other gunsmiths
and thought he was more competent, and he has been in buisiness for 27 years. I must tell you that hearing good reports about his work makes me feel alot better. If you or anybody out there can point me in the direction of a magazine follower I would be very greatfull.
THANK YOU
JON JACKSON

Thor,

Thank you very much for the nice words of credit - and a very fine restoration indeed. You did a fantastic job on the hammer by maintaining the 'frosted' finish - well done!

Cheers,
Albert
