SS marked Luger???

Hi all,

I've started this thread with pics item, haven't seenon the german daggers fire arms forum.

Here are the pics, I may get more if there's a chance that this may be an intteresting item

A complete fantasy. The gun is a fabrication. Note the complete lack of markings on toggle and chamber. Note also the relative shallowness of the puported SS stamps. And perhaps, most importantly, the SS did not mark their pistols.

It looks to me that someone ruined a perfectly good Sneak Luger...Some of the Sneaks did not have any manufacture marks.

about 10 years ago in Dallas I came across a seller at a show that had three or four "SS" marked Lugers, SS being branded into the grips of otherwise mismatched, varying years and mfgs. I was told they were extremely rare. I agreed with him, but only out of ignorance. I don't know how many had actually been constructed. Certainly, I'd bet, there are more of them now than there ever were.

I think that I would have mentioned that they did'nt seem to be all that rare. "You have four of them!!"

The ugly but facinating part, is that the maker of the phony stamps knows his trade pretty well. "Waffenfabrik USA" just gets better and better.

Probably our fantasy friend from Copperas Cove, TX. He used to play at the Dallas Market Hall shows. I almost bought into one of his Lugers. Sure am glad I asked around before doing so. I would have been screwed badly.

Note the buffing marks on top of the toggle knobs. Big chance this one didn't start off as a blank toggle specimen either.
