Rock Island Auction - my 1st Experience
I was on telephone bidding this weekend a few times on items at their auction.
It was pretty neat. I was shocked at how much some items went for. I wanted to buy the 1902 Cartridge Counter as it would go nicely with the one I have and they are 1 sn apart...it only went for $25k. Oh crap...I wish I had procurred the funds in advance had I thought it would have gone that cheap. BUT, then you get to things like the recent edition Mauser lugers that went for 12 and 1300. That was high. OR the worst I knew about was the Walther P38K...$2250 plus 15% buyers premium. Thats crazy. And the 2 Martz Baby Lugers..went for way over price. I bought one on an auction board recently for $1800 and the same one went for almost double. Im sure there were some real buys, but some other items went nutz. I would do it again, but expand what I want and plan to bid on more. |

Additional results:
The M1904 Navy serial #36 which is genuine fetched $55k without the commission; The cased Loewe Borchardt which is in very good condition fetched $35k without the commission. While some items were good, there were also some items which were bad. Buyer beware. |
