Ill-fitting magazine?
I picked up a magazine for the Erfurt today. Looks to be stainless steel, or perhaps strawed. The bottom is not wood but not plastic either. It has an eagle stamped on either side of this bottom piece. I loaded it up with 8 rounds, and attempted to insert it into the pistol grip. It won't go in past the first bit of it. I tried it with an empty magazine too. What is up with this?

You have purchased a magazine for the stainless steel Stoeger Luger of recent manufacture. The base is a wood colored plastic composite. It is not interchangeable with original magazines and will only fit the Stoeger and perhaps some of the Mitchell or Orimar stainless Lugers. Unfortunately it is useless with your Erfurt. Sorry.

If they don't take it back... just offer it for sale in the "For Sale" Forum

Jim,
Original Erfurt mags come up on eBay all of the time, but won't be cheap. If you want a shooter mag. Get a MEC-GAR after market mag. Or post a WTB in the parts wanted section. I'm sure someone will have one to offer. Ron

I'll trade you a 70's Mauser magazine for it...
