Default Arisaka T99 back home

Hello Guys !
Just wanted to share a story of my New Find .A collector friend called me about an T99 short he was going to sell . I told him I was interested . Went to take a look and it is a real nice one , great shape , Has what I guess are early features , i.e; chrome barrel & bolt face , AA sights , 3 screw front barrel band , 2 drain holes & finger groove in stock , wide metal buttplate, etc. The mum is completely ground , cleaning rod & Monopod are missing ( there are no marring marks on the stock to indicate a pod was ever installed ) , The bolt and dust cover are mis matched .
The best news is that he got this from my Uncle before he died (20yrs ago) , long before I started collecting Milsurps .My uncle brought this back from the Phillipines ( Leyte to be exact ) .So now it is back in the family , A tresure that I never knew existed !
From doing a little research I have learned that the rifle is a Toyo Kogyo mfg. series 31 . Serial# is 15671 . Any way to put a year of Mfg on this ???
Anyway like I said this rifle is in exc. cond. Exc. finish on metal & wood , bore is mint !
Just located some 7.7x58 SP (Hornady) & hope to put some rounds down range this weekend !
I paid probably to much for a mis match but the Family history behind it is worth seveal times that to me
Ya'all take care & have a wonderful Decoration Day Weekend !!!!

Shawn,

Glad to hear the rifle is back in the family. It is always good to hear that someone can take care of these family treasures. This is something your Uncle cared for until his death, and now his memory will live on! Congatulations
