Uh oh! That doesn't sound good.
I take it they sprouted little legs and wandered off?

While what you have imagined, may indeed be what has happened, it may also be that a known example of particular Navy models may have changed hands between collectors and the current whereabouts may not be known. Those that are very serious Navy Luger collectors, like Leo, often maintain databases of known examples of rare guns and may just want to update his records... Leo is one of three collectors known within the Luger collecting fraternity as the "Navy Luger Cabal"... when he speaks on the subject, as with the other two guys, everybody listens...

Sorry I couldn't help out Leo... are these guns truely 'missing' or you just trying to track them down for the record? (If the reason is private, just drop me a PM)

Hi John..you are correct, I am upgrading my data base and I have both of these two guns listed. I believe they are one and the same...just not sure which one is correct.

Hi Jan and thank you for taking the time to respond to my dilemma. In corresponding with another collector overseas we both have 3305 GOUV.KIAU 278 O.M.D.2.6 and 3305a GOUV.KIAU. 278 O.M.D.2.6 listed as the same piece.
On your original list you had seven of these pieces listed. Then number 3386 GOUV.KIAU 4 surfaced along with 3305 GOUV.KIAU.278 and 2797 GOUV. KIAU with an unknown weapon number.
For the time being I will continue to keep them both listed with a question mark on the "a suffix"
Do you have any info on the weapon number of 2797 ?

Regards

Leo

Could 593 be a typo of 3004'S "5.93"?

Also, I have Gouv Kia 3005a recorded the same as Jan Still above but also noted it is a first issue safety in unaltered condition. I think my information came off this site.

Quite probably! Is it '3005a' or '3050a'?

Default GOUV.KIAU

Hello Heinz.......Thank you for your interest. I am sure we will solve this problem soon. There are several people that are showing interest in what I do believe is a "typo error" and sooner or later we will know the answer.

This email from JohnF on the forum mentions 3305a. It is from 2003. At one point he gave me the rest of the information that I posted. I cannot remember if I had photos of it but I had a computer crash between then and now.
"Am I right in thinking that my P.06 unaltered Luger S/N 3305a would have been made in 1906 or was it made before then?
Still's Imperial Lugers mentioned that the first 8000 pistols were to have been delivered before May 1906 but that's all I've been able to find.
Any help would be appreciated." (JohnF who was a member in England)
