Default 1918 DWM

Hello,

I purchased a 1918 DWM a year or so ago that was a imported rework (no VOPO marks however). The pistol is an excellent shooter and has matching numbers with the exception of the takedown lever, sideplate, and safety. The finish is quite ugly ( not to mention someone vibro penciled a serial number into the sideplate - UGGH). I was considering refinishing the pistol myself using the Hot Rust Blue offered for sale on www.winrestore.com. Does anyone have any tips , experience, or opinions on refinishing using a product such as this.

Thanks in advance,

Bret

Bret, With the electric pencil engraved side plate, this sounds like a Russian rework. I'd save your time & effort to refinish until your can find the correct style matching sideplate, TD & safety levers. I may be able to help in this regard. Tom h
