Mauser HSC

I will be acquiring a Mauser HSC via trade soon. Wondering if I could get a little assistance. The Gun's Serial is (746319). Wondering if anyone knows approximately what time that puts this pistols manufacture. Proofs are 135 and eagle/N. From my understanding this was standard war time production proofs.

Another question I have is, the person who I will be trading with, said the guns springs are the same as the low grip screw version HSC's and not the later guns? Can anyone clarify?

Any info would be great!

Well finally got the HSC and snapped some pics.. I did a ton of research (no responses..?) Seems this is an early Nazi army issue pistol (note the matted Sight Channel). The gun is near mint Blue/Bore and overall is mint with the exception of the chips in the left grip (argh!) Let me know what you guys think.. did I do ok? Should have a Mauser 1910 coming soon also.

Nice example of an early WW2 HSc. The springs in this model are the same thur WW2, but the trigger/sear bar spring on the postwar version is different. TH

That is a sweet piece,I have allways wanted one but never ran up on what I thought was a good deal.

Thanks Clint. Ya I'm really happy with it. I have had an HSC in the past, but it was a post-war interarms model. I'm really quite impressed with how nice the original finish is on this gun (as you can see in the pics).. Its a keeper. The bore ls absolutely mint. I couldn't beleive how tough it was to find detailed info on HSC's. Luckily a good friend had a copy of Roy Pender 3rd's book Mauser Pocket Pistols 1910-1946. Will come in handy with I get my 1910 soon..

That is a nice looking HSc. I have an egale over L (Nazi police) in similar seemingly barely condition and have found it very difficult to date these pistols. Because the french torched the mauser factory after producing firearms for their own army after basically giving the nazis the keys to their country all records were destroyed making dating an HSc based on serial number very dificult. If you find a way please let me know.

Thanks Ed, ya I used to be on Gunboards all the time.. and I am registered on Jan Still's althought I rarely check it. I think I may have talked with the gentleman you are refering too years ago (does he keep a database of HSC's?) if its the same person, he was a real nice guy. Will check it. Thanks!
