OUR NATIONAL PARK SERVICE,publises online early luger reseach
Thanks to Ron. a most invaluble luger reseach site, is available, 'Springfield Armory National Historic Site', is now available online' It contains our nations store house for early firearm evaluation. My favorite is its priceless informationon the 1900 luger test gun. For instance it gives a four page study on Test Luger, barrel #6196 and frame #7018, the frame is controlling, Not only dos it publish an exhaustive treatise on one particular, Test gun, Barrel: 6196, Frame:7018, Slide: U.S. Army style Eagle, Toggle: dwm (script), 77,Takedown Lever: 18, Side plate: 15, and something i never expected, an independent Army number- "Simular to Luger, Received from Chief of Ordinance" This site offers a gold mine, not only on lugers, but upon every firearm submited for testing. I myself have printed off,4 pages, 'GERMAN PISTOL LUGER MODEL 1900 7.65MM SN#7018, Manufactured by DWM, Berlin, Germany - Standard German semi-automatic pistol with 8'round detachable box magazine. Blue finish, checkered plastic grips. Used by American Ordinance for testing at Springfield. Grip safety, toggle action, Wooden bottom on magazine. composite piece- may be deliberate to test Interchangeability. My only question,"CHECKER PLASTIC GRIPS' my Test Luger #6736 has wooden mags bottom, complete with a tiny flaming bomb, i have available, and has the same serial on the barrel and frame'
